Time flies when you are having fun! Another year has flown by and if I see that I took a few big steps towards the goal of my blog, I can only be happy. I wanted to change my life, but between wanting and making it happen is a big difference. There is no secret recipe to create change! You should just do it and sometimes you go over your own limits before you realize that. But enough with the dramatic overtones, it’s party time!!!!
What has changed/happened during the second year of MELLOWANTSMORE?
I had a first (actually 2nd) interior design project. It was a small project for an acquaintance and this gave me lots of energy! I chose the lighting, furniture, curtains, plumbing and the only colored wall. This project has ensured that I finally got the change I wished for so long came true. It was not an easy road, but those are the ones where you learn the most. This was the turning point that I needed to start to work again on my future.
During this time I decided to take on a new challenge and once I made this choice, there were tons of weight off dropping of my shoulders! Finding this challenge went al lot easier than expected. Before I started this challenge, I went on my first solo summer vacation to make sure I had new energy for it. Some felt that I was brave, but Gran Canaria is not exactly a frightening place to be alone. I especially enjoyed the peace and nature, the amazing service @ the Palm Beach, and also acted on my first hotel reviews. This idea came spontaneously; a former colleague of mine was staying in a hotel nearby and came to see where I was staying and went looking at her stay. With absolutely no expectations, I started to visit a few hotels that caught my attention. I had the opportunity to see a suite in the beautiful colonial Lopesan Costa Meloneras hotel and got a private tour at RIU Club Gran Canaria. Not bad for a first time.
In this review I discussed the architecture and decor, which for me as a designer is very important. As a designer I am more sensitive to those things and it is mostly the whole picture that needs to be right for me. It was one of my goals to write more about architecture and interior design and this was definitely a step in the right direction
Then the biggest change of all started, the new job! I started to work at Facq a well-known sanitary showroom in Belgium. I received a lot of training; followed colleagues & received many welcome gifts from suppliers. A change of scenery can do a lot. The trust that the company gave me and the friendship I get from colleagues, made me confident and proud again where I stand in life. Now more than ever, I want to fight for my dreams.
Somewhere in the fall, I received an email that made my heart explode from happyness. When I put my review online, I also send a copy to the hotels I wrote about. To my great surprise, the people behind the blog riu.com asked me if I wanted to be a guest blogger on there website. My answer: a wholehearted yes. It needed to be shortened a bit and they did the rest. So that is how my first collaboration came about. Click on the link bellow to see my first co-lab:
I closed down 2015 with 501 visitors which was awesome! All the support and help I have got was overwhelming! I am so grateful
that I have the best followers and friends in the world, so a big applause for you!!!
January was a very exciting month for me, because I had the chance to go on an exclusive trip to Vitra, Duravit and Axor. Before I left on this adventure, I had my annual trip to Paris for Maison & Objet and fashion week. This is where the idea growed for the “my kind of fashion week” post. It was a hellish adventure that started in Paris a charming hotel 34B, where I spotted the cutest trends in interior design @ Maison & Objet; Ran to the grand palace to spot fashionistas, bloggers and their outfits. From the Thalys to the plane in only a few hours to admire some of my most beloved architectural gems and design furniture at Vitra; Admiring the production of sanitary porcelain @ Duravit, to be fascinated by the production of taps and Philippe Grohe himself. There was no better way to start this year.
I had some hard times with my first total interior project; my mentor had decided that I had to find out on my own… It was a difficult moment, but they say “sometimes things have to go very wrong before they can be wright”. Something good came out of it, I am standing on my own two feet for this one and in the end, I have owned it all by itself. Finally you cannot swim your whole with rubber rings. It is an amazing opportunity and I cannot fail this one. Hopefully I can show you my baby soon so you can see all the blood, sweat and the masses tears that are established.
What I feared for a long time became reality in the second year of my blog. Our small country was hit by attacks. So close, where I drop by every day, where people go with a smile, unbelievable. I hereby reiterate my support to all victims, family & friends.
My goal is to get more interior design on my blog has already succeeded in my last posts of B-room crushes and Tropical vibes inside.I want to share my passion with all of you. I hope you liked those posts and that they inspired you. For me, It is taste for more.
It was a great second year and you have ensured it! I enjoyed every opportunity and that I could share these great moments with you was nice! I can only hope that this year will even get better and that you continue to follow me, because you are awesome!
